3 Marketing Strategies That Have Worked in Every Season of My Business

Welcome back to another episode of the Business Ease Podcast, and today we are going to talk about 3 marketing strategies that have worked in every single season of my business.

When I first started my business and launched my website back in 2017, I thought all these amazing clients were going to find it and my business would grow rapidly.   I announced it on Instagram and found that no-one reached out and I didn’t have very many business-related followers.  While wondering why it wasn’t converting, I soon found that it was a lead traffic issue as I didn't have an audience to draw from.

I think that it’s a misconception within the business world that you’ve just got to put yourself out there and market yourself.  It's actually not just about marketing yourself, but about where your leads currently are.   Your audiences hang out in a lot of different places like social media, but they don’t necessarily convert on there.

So today I wanted to talk through three marketing strategies that have worked for me in every season of business.  One of the main tools in business is that it’s always easier to borrow an audience than it is to build an audience.

In my Accountability Club I talk about different types of marketing for long term and short term borrowing styles.

The following three strategies have always been a big part of my strategy.

1.    PITCHING

This strategy worked for me when I first started and it's how I got my first clients.  It could be a direct pitch, or it could be a pitch to a pool of people like a Facebook group.  Essentially it is a direct pitch to an audience area where your ideal client is already engaged.

I have spoken about pitching before and I have a pitching template you can access when you join my Accountability Club.

What I love about pitching is that it gets me directly in front of my ideal client within minutes of sending a pitch. Whether or not they convert is a different story, but pitching is such a powerful strategy.  It has never actually failed me and is one strategy that I would use in every season of my business.

2.    REFERRALS

Referrals also has worked for me in every single season of business.  I think referrals is one of the most underestimated forms of marketing. It actually is an excellent way of getting to your ideal client.  It is also rewarding the referee, in terms of giving them an enticing financial payout.

When a lead comes from a referral source, the client has a higher level of trust in you and so are easier to convert.

If you'd like me to go deeper into referrals in another episode, please let me know.

3.    EMAIL MARKETING

Firstly, I just want to mention social media platforms.  I think Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest marketing are excellent platforms to use.  Twitter, and LinkedIn are also great strategies as is SEO blogging and podcasting.  Of course, they haven't necessarily worked for me in every season. It takes time to nurture and book clients and so therefore is a lengthier process.  In saying that, in this day and age they are a necessary part of your strategy.

As a service provider, your email marketing is a key part of your strategy.  What has worked for me in every season is having a wait list.  Also, if you know you have a question that's consistently asked, then have that as an opt in. Just having something that they are needing and wanting from you is also a key.

Keep in mind that they are looking to hire someone to solve their problem rather than you giving them a DIY solution to that problem. Explain your solution and how you're unique. Look at how you're doing that with the style of opt in or the wait list or discounts.   Whether it is weekly emails or not, it's still that dedicated pool of leads that you need to engage with each month.

So those are my three strategies, pitching, referrals and email marketing. I hope that they have helped you. I would love to hear what 3 strategies you have that never fail for you. Send me a DM @withhannahandco. I'd love to talk further about any of these strategies, especially if you're in a season of growing and scaling and want some marketing tips.
