So, Are You Ready to Hire?

So, Are You Ready to Hire?

Welcome back to another episode of the Business Ease Podcast. I am excited to talk about all things hiring and how to actually know when you are ready to hire.  I've been to both extremes, hiring too early and struggling or hiring too late and also struggling.

It really is all about finding the right time and you will know by the signs and indicators that you are ready.  In my current season, I am teaching full-time so that means I have less time for my business. It also means I have more income to hire team members.

In this episode, I am going to explain the three general signs that I think are indicators that you're ready to hire.

So, let’s dive in!

1.    Knowing Your Dream Schedule

Firstly, you need to have a clear dream schedule.  Usually when you hire, there's a lot of training involved and this can take a little bit more time than usual.  Training a team member to work at the standard that you require will need systems in place.

If you know what your offers are and what your marketing strategies are then hiring will help you get a better return on income. For example, when it comes to ads, hiring an expert will get me a better return on income.  I actually have training on crafting your dream schedule. In this training I go through what should be in your schedule. I talk about how to batch things out and how to host it in Google Calendar. It's a full training course as part of my service Biz Hub membership which is only $7.00 a month.  You can cancel anytime, so you could just join up for the month to get the full schedule training.  It also comes with a monthly call as well so you can discuss your schedule and the hiring process.

So bottom line, if you have a good, clear schedule in place then you are ready to hire.

2.    Are You Dropping the Ball On Important Tasks?

The second sign is that you're dropping the ball on important tasks.  By that I mean a task gets continually missed or mistakes are happening. It could also mean you are having to reschedule a task multiple times.  You have to be careful with why something is getting rescheduled or why it's getting missed.  If its not a task that you need to be doing in your week, you don't need someone else doing it either.

For example, if you are constantly rescheduling a marketing strategy and you have had no clients from it, you might just need to eliminate it for this season. If emails are continually getting missed, you may be ready to hire because you want to give your clients (or potential clients) a great experience.

 3.    Can Your Income Support Hiring?

The third sign that you're ready to hire is that your income can handle it. Even though you are getting a return on your investment, at the same time cash flow is also going out.  You need to make sure that you actually have the financial stability to do it.

If your income is unpredictable, then I would recommend that you outsource for a project rather than hire.  For example, you might invest in a graphic designer to help you get a lot of templates done.  This is a form of output, but it is not a full-time commitment.

What I did was rather than paying a full Instagram management service, I became part of a Reels Report membership.  This generated 4 trending audios a week to my email.  I knew I could cancel at anytime if I needed to.

Another suggestion would be to look at hiring a business coach just for a season.  This would give you some ideas to look at how you can scale your business.

So, in conclusion, the three key signs that you are ready to hire are number 1 – you have already got your dream schedule.  Number 2 – you have been dropping the ball and missing things. Number 3 – your income is enough to cover hiring team members.

I love having people on my team to support me. I've also had seasons where it hasn't been the right fit, so definitely make sure that you are ready to hire.  You could even do a trial for 30 days with a hire to see how that goes.

I wish you all the best in your hiring journey!
